Paint Chip Painting Project

Secondary Art Project Idea: This was a project I was assigned in my BFA, and enjoyed a lot. It required us to go pick a paint chip from the hard ware store that had a name that intrigued us. We knew that we would have to represent the name of the paint chip conceptually as well as incorporating the actual paint in our final piece. There are tons of crazy names for paint and many avenues from which we could have taken our ideas down. It is a great project to use for students who are strong at idea generation and can take their ideas to that point. May be a discouraging project for those just starting art. Would recommend it for a high school art final project.
