Secondary Art Project: Spicy art!
This is something I thought of the other day that would be an exciting way to introduce an art project. The students would either pick a spice out of a bag, or choose their own spice (depending on the level of creativity in the class to generate ideas), and would have to create an art work based on the memories, smells and emotions that are provoked by the spice (taste could be apart of it but encourage students to think deeper).
The type of art medium could be assigned (great for a painting, drawing or printmaking project); or you could allow them to decide on their own medium of choice. (Again, depending on the level of creative development of the class). The art work would also have to include the spice in a PHYSICAL sense as well. And if the piece can smell like it also, that would be a bonus. The students should strive to evoke the spice through their work on different sensual levels and intellectual levels.
